The Latgalian Christian Peasant and Catholic Party ((ラトビア語:Latgales kristige zemnieki un katoli)) was a Christian centrist political party in the Latvia in the inter-war period.〔Nohlen, D & Stöver, P (2010) ''Elections in Europe: A data handbook'', p1104 ISBN 978-3-8329-5609-7〕 It was the largest party in the Latgale region, and was led by the bishop Jāzeps Rancāns.〔Vincent E McHale (1983) ''Political parties of Europe'', Greenwood Press, p449 ISBN 0-313-23804-9〕 ==History== The party won six seats in the 1920 Constituent Assembly elections, becoming the joint fourth-largest party in the Assembly.〔Nohlen & Stöver, p1137〕 It retained its six seats in the 1922 elections, but was reduced to five seats in the 1925 elections. It returned to six seats following the 1928 elections, and won eight seats in the 1931 elections.
